Dear Dr. Young
After two months in the offices of an ENT specialist who diagnosed my dizziness, tinnitus and hearing loss, I owed $400 and was told I probably had Meniere's Disease. I found out later that Meniere's is basically what doctors call a myriad o symptoms, when other major problems have been ruled out and they don't really know what the problems is.
After all of my trouble, all I had was less money and no answers. As a public school teacher, I had to acquire a substitute each time I was tested and during my last visit, I was told "it's in your left ear" but that tey really couldn't help me. The specialist never gave me more than a few minutes of her uninterrupted time, even when I was waiting to see if I had a brain tumor. Regarding my debilitating imbalance, she said I would have to "buck it up" and that she would prescribe Prednisone "to help my ear adjust."
I went home and read about Prednisone. Oh my. No thank you!
Then, I found your chiropractic office. Not only did you spend as much time as I needed discussing my concerns, you gave me some exercises to strengthen my muscular balance which were extremely helpful. After an adjustment to the area at the base of my cerebellum (around my ear), I felt better almost immediately, not to mention you alleviated my ongoing shoulder pain, which I had tried to ignore during my earlier unpleasant doctor's visits.
You studied my symptoms, researched and recommended Ginkgo Biloba, a natural herb alternative to prescription medications, to increase circulation to my head. During this process I was and continue to be treated with respect and dignity, not as "an ear" or worse, a piece of meat on an assembly line, which is how I'd felt in the ENT's offices. When visiting you, I felt like a partner in my own healing. You educated me about the functioning of my own body. Also, I haven't had to leave my students to visit you, because your schedule is accommodative.
In short, thank you for your skills, knowledge and humility. You've been a Godsend.
I wanted to formally thank you for all you have done for me. I have always been fortunate to find empathetic healthcare providers. Finding you reminds me that a life lived with others in mind rewards.
You are a credit to your profession and a huge comfort to those you treat. I hope you are reminded daily of your contribution to the greater good.
